The design consists of a tube bundle enclosed within a shell of a specified geometry. One fluid flows through the tubes, while the second fluid circulates around them—allowing efficient heat exchange without direct contact between the media.
When steam is available on site, they can be easily combined with plate-type heat exchangers to provide a safe and economic way for cold end protection purposes.
